Undersky

Net, fabric, rope

Anya Lomachenko

In Undersky, Lomachenko draws a connection between Ukrainian camouflage nets and Venetian lace to examine how communities protect endangered heritage. Both traditions rely on communal making by women and share a delicate, intricate visual language. By bringing these materials together, the work highlights parallel vulnerabilities – Ukraine confronting war and Venice facing environmental threat – while underscoring the collective labor that sustains cultural identity.
