Charles Burke Dykstal is an art historian, curator, environmentalist, and video maker. He is an MA candidate in Modern and Contemporary Art History & Criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he is the New Artist Society Fellow. His research concerns ecoaesthetics and ecocriticism, evaluating the intersections of art and the environment that art depicts, interacts with, and depends on. He is especially interested in Modernism and is currently studying the wartime landscapes of Pierre Bonnard. As a video maker, he has produced informational and promotional videos for art institutions around the Chicagoland area.
